Most of us have a lot to be thankful for.
A brief moment of pause and reflection is likely to reveal not only how much we take for granted, but also how blessed we are personally and collectively.
We don’t often have to worry about our next meal or staying warm on a cold, winter night.
We expect to have hot water for a shower and clean water to drink.
We are largely safe and secure in our homes, on our jobs, and in our schools.
We tend to take these freedoms and privileges for granted – ignoring the hard realities of so many people around the world.
During the holiday season, as we gather with family and friends, may we pause and reflect on how precious these moments in time are.
And afterwards, perhaps we can be more intentional and generous toward others – and better stewards of our gifts and endowments.
