Why does God call us to unity as a body of believers?

What is required of us in order to fulfill God’s mandate of unity?

How does unity manifest in our personal lives, families, churches, workplaces, schools, communities, and everyday life as a whole?

Consider Ephesians 4:1-6:

“….to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit….one hope….one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all….”

Unity requires personal humility, a posture of gentleness, a commitment to patience, and a heart of love toward others.

Unity is rooted in a desire for peace and oneness above all — despite our unique gifts, personalities, interests, opinions, ideas, and distinctions.

Because there is ultimately one Lord, one God, and one Father of us all.
